Our Lamb Breeding Stock
From elite Katahdin sheep to fresh sweet corn, we offer quality you can trust.

The girls
While Elon might get all the notoriety, our ewes are the true backbone of Westhoff Farm. Our flock of purebred registered Katahdin ewes is selected for exactly what a Missouri shepherd needs: disease resistance, good structure, and the ability to thrive on pasture
Elon our sire
Meet Elon. Our prolific sire is the backbone of our flock. We breed for hardiness, easy shedding, and that signature Katahdin vitality. He is registered with Katahdin Hair Sheep International (KHSI). His NSIP ID is 6402252025JMG395
The Westhoff Genetic Foundation: Diversity & Durability
When we set out to build the Westhoff flock, we didn't just look for "sheep next door." We went to a premier breeder in Iowa who shared our obsession with high-performance genetics.
A Coast-to-Coast Pedigree
Our foundation stock was hand-selected from a program that scoured the United States to bring the best of the breed together. By sourcing genetics from Pennsylvania to Oregon and everywhere in between, we’ve integrated a massive level of genetic diversity into our flock. This isn't just about "papers"—it’s about hybrid vigor, structural integrity, and the best traits the Katahdin breed has to offer across the entire country. Our sire Elon is from a ram out of Pennsylvania (NSIP Number: 6401562019ELR194) and the Dam was from Oregon. All of our Katahdins are from this diverse set of genetics.
Acclimated for the Heartland
We know that Missouri and Iowa weather isn't for the faint of heart. We intentionally chose sheep that were born and raised in our Midwestern climate. They’ve seen the humid summers and the freezing winters, and they don't just survive—they thrive.
The Low-Maintenance Standard
Our goal is "Sheep that work for you, not the other way around." We select for:
Parasite Resistance: Essential for our Missouri pastures.
Easy Shedding: No shearing, no fuss.
Exceptional Mothering: Ewes that lamb with ease and raise vigorous lambs that Katahdin ewes are known for.
Our Hybrid Management System
Garrett’s strategic business plan focuses on a "best of both worlds" approach to nutrition and health. We use a Hybrid Management System to ensure our sheep are hardy yet high-performing:
Rotational Grazing: During the growing season, our sheep move through fresh Missouri pastures, mimicking natural movement and maintaining soil health.
Dry Lot Hay & Alfalfa: During the off-season or critical growth periods, we supplement with high-quality hay and alfalfa. This ensures our ewes have the "fuel" they need for healthy lambs and Elon stays in peak breeding condition.
The "Mineral Advantage" Content Block
The Foundation of Health: Precision Nutrition At Westhoff Farm, we know that "low maintenance" doesn't mean "no maintenance." The key to our flock’s resilience is a proactive Mineral Supplement Program. Northern Missouri soils can be deficient in key trace elements, so we provide our sheep with free-choice, high-quality minerals year-round. This is the cornerstone of our health plan, ensuring:
Stronger Immune Systems: Better natural resistance to parasites and disease.
Elite Reproductive Health: Higher conception rates for the ladies and peak fertility for Elon.
Structural Integrity: Strong hooves and bone density that can handle any terrain.
We don't just wait for a problem to arise; we feed for prevention. When you take home a Westhoff lamb, you are getting an animal that has had the best nutritional start possible.
We will lamb in May 2026 and we are open to holding back for your needs so please reach out sooner versus later to discuss your needs. westhofffarm@gmail.com
